Matt 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. Mark 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. God the Father told us to hear him, that is to listen to what he tells us. What does he tell us? Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. We must seek the Lord. Seek salvation. How do we seek? we call on the name of the Lord. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Are you saved? If not, have you been calling on the name of the Lord? Have you been asking for salvation? Matt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Have you been honest with the Lord? Have you reasoned with him? Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are not saved, then it is because you are not doing what the Lord has commanded you. Lets also look at that 16th verse - Isaiah 1:16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; The Lord is calling you to turn away from your own wicked ways before he calls you to come and reason with him. The Lord will not hear the prayers of someone who is living in sin. This includes all of the idols we have setup in the heart. This includes living with your girl friend. This includes your drugs, cigarettes, and drinking. Matt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Are you coming to him? Do you need rest? This is where the deception of Satan affects mankind. the heart is deceitful - Bro. Freddy thi morning - Aarons sons were silently angry. Are you blinded to see that you need rest? You MUST be honest with the Lord. I could not see that I needed rest. If you don't need rest, then you are one of those who is not sick. You are one of the righteous - whom Christ didn't come to die for. I ask you again, Do you see that you need rest? Are you being honest? The Lord knows your heart and he knows when you are honest. Don't lie to him. Here is what the Lord told us - John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. You must believe. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Do you believe? Are you seeking the Lord? This is what the Lord told us... Matt 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. This shows that salvation is more valuable than all of our earthly possesions. Salvation is made known to us by God himself. Matt 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. The bible tells us of Gods wrath, it will soon be poured out on this earth. Will you be a partaker in it? Matt 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come have you fled to Christ? Who has warned you? I warn you now! 1 corinth. 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. You can not acknowlege that Jesus Christ is your Lord and savior except the Holy spirit make you to know it. This is what we call salvation. How firm a foundation - 199 broadman
