Glen Bond May 13, 2007 Jackson Miss. Subject : The children of Israel being delivered out of Egypt are a type of salvation. Every sinner is a slave of Satan, just as the children of Israel were slaves in Egypt. All the devices of Satan will not keep the Gods elect from coming to Christ. The king said destroy all of the male children. The Lord caused the male children to live anyway. He gave them favor in the eyes of the midwives. When Satan would have made all of the male children to die anyway, then the Lord used Satans own people to save his chosen one. Look what the Lord does. He caused the daughter of Pharaoh to love Moses and to raise him in her own home. The Lord caused Satan to bless the Lords own anointed. When a sinner begins to cry for deliverance, then the Lord will send the Holy Spirit to lead the lost sinner out of Satans territory. Over and over in the Bible we are told that the people cried to the Lord, and he delivered them. Isaiah 19:20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them. Psalms 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. Every sinner that the Lord ever saves will glorify the Lord. When you know that you are delivered from an eternal Hell, you will give glory to God. But look at the natural heart of man. Ex. 5:23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all. The lost sinner will begin to plead the promises of God, but he will not get the instant results that he wants. Moses was sent to deliver the Israelites. He thought that he would go before pharaoh, work a few miracles and pharaoh would let them go. I think that this is the weak faith of the mind. It is not a true saving faith. It is man believing of himself. Saving faith is from God. Gods ways are not our ways. God saves however he wants to save. And he always works things to our benefit. A difficult salvation does not benefit God nor change God. It benefits us. It changes us for the better. ...neither hast thou delivered thy people at all. The natural heart doesn't believe that God can save. The Lord would build up faith in them. As the Lord worked more of his wrath on the Egyptians, the people began to see and believe that God was able to deliver them. One thing that I want you to see. When the Lord began to work toward delivering them, Satan began to make it more difficult. Exodus 5:9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words. When you begin to seek the Lord, Satan will cause all manner of things to come up before you to discourage you, and to turn you back. Bro. Shelton used to say "Plant your feet" don't go back. The people needed to see that they were truly bound by Pharaoh. If you are not saved, you are bound by Satan, you are a slave to him, you do what he wants. (Isaiah 61:1 and John 8:44) Have you ever come to see that you are a slave of Satan? If you have, then you have somthing to praise the Lord for. This is the Holy Spirit working in you. If the Lord never awakens you, you will never see and know that you are a slave of satan. Before the Lord begins to deliver his child, that child will be lost in the world. He will be happy and content, he will love all of the world around him, and he will not be concerned about his soul. Just as the children of Israel were happy and content before Pharaoh began to afflict them. But the Lord will cause the world around us to become difficult and un-bearable. Just as the Children of Israel were afflicted by Pharaoh and their life became miserable. If you never see that you are bound by Satan, you will never cry out against it, and you will never be saved. When our life gets miserable, then is when we will cry for deliverance. While we are happy we will never cry for salvation. We will never come, seek, or reason together, we will never get honest. The Lord makes our life to be un-acceptable, and in one way or another, we will be concerned for our soul and begin to cry to the Lord. Salvation is the greatest miracle that the Lord ever works. When the Lord delivers us from Satan or Pharaoh, we then begin the jorney through life to the promised land. If you ever want to see what kind of heart you have, just look at the children of Israel as they go through the wilderness. It seems that their besetting sin was murmuring and complaining. We think lightly of complaining, but God hates it. He destroyed many for their murmering and complaining. Each of us has a besetting sin. A sin that keeps near us. A sin that we can't seem to get away from. Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, How can we lay aside the besetting sin? 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. The children of Israel were chronic complainers. Their complaining was mostly from unbelief. They would not believe that the Lord could deliver them. That is the problem with those who are not saved, you don't believe the Lord. You don't believe that he can save you. You don't believe his word when he says that he 'waits to be gracious' You don't believe him when he says he has no pleasure in the death of the wicked. You don't believe: Come to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. The children of Israel didn't believe that the Lord was able to deliver the promised land to them. Though they had seen all of the miracles that the Lord had done in bringing them out of Egypt. They would not believe. You won't believe. You have seen others saved by the power of God, but you won't believe. You are afraid to step out on faith. You are afraid to put yourself in the control of God. The children of Israel would not go and fight because they were afraid that they would be killed. You won't believe until you see that you are going to perish if you don't. When you see that death waits for you here, then you will flee to Christ. Like the three lepers, they were going to die if they stayed, they thought, well, it's possible that the enemy may show us some small mercy if we go to them. They went and found that the enemy had fled and left all that they had. The lepers did not expect what they found, and you will not expect what you find if you will come to Christ. 2 Kings 7:3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die? 4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die. 5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there. 6 For the LORD had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us. 7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life. 8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it. 9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household.
