Glen Bond Picayune MS April 1, 2007 Subject : We all know that we are a sinner. But do we all know that Christ died for sinners? Lev. 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. ...by his knowledge... That is, by knowing Christ. Knowing him by faith. ...shall my righteous servant justify many; Matt. Henry says: Faith is the knowledge of Christ, and without knowledge there can be no true faith. These verses show: 1 - We are all sinners 2 - We need a blood atonement 3 - Our sins were laid on Christ 4 - He was offered as a sin offering. God is not slack concerning his promises. 2-Peter 3:9 Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee. Only God can reveal himself to you. Mat. 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Thomas wouldn't believe. John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. How can you get that great revelation to the soul? Matt. 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. You must come to Christ, to God himself.
