Glen Bond Dec. 17, 2006 Picayune Ms. Subject: flee from the wrath to come Matt 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. How was it in the days of Noah? Genesis 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And here is the wrath of God: Genesis 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; This is what we have today. The world is filled with violence and the Lord is going to destroy it. Genesis 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. This is just as valid now as it was in Noah's day. Look what God said; "I will destroy them with the earth." The lost sinner won't submit to God The lost sinner is saying in his heart, "I don't care what God said, I want this, and I am going to have it." "I won't have this man to rule over me." You don't believe that the Lord is going to destroy this earth, you don't believe that God is going to judge you. You are calling God a liar. Lost sinner... that is what you are doing. You are refusing Christ, you are refusing to submit to HIM because you want to have your own way. You don't want to stop what you are doing and seek the Lord. You don't want to be saved. Why? One reason why the lost sinner won't comoe to Christ is shown here, Isaiah 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. When the lost sinner looks toward Christ, he sees nothing that he desires. That will stop most sinners from ever seeking the Lord. I used to think about going to heaven, and I never thought that there was anything there that I really wanted. All that I wanted was right here. Me, My, Mine. Selfish, and self righteous. Unable to see my condition before God. But when the Holy Spirit comes in and reproves that sinner of sin, and righteousness, and judgement, then that sinner will then see a need that he never saw before. He will see that he is a sinner, that he has no righteousness, and that he is doomed to an eternal Hell. He will see that he needs what only Christ can provide. A righteous covering for his sin. A covering that will pass through the judgement. Matthew 22:1-14 22:1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, 22:3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. 22:4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. 22:5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: 22:6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. 22:7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 22:8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. 22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. 22:10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. 22:11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: 22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. 2:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. Verse 11 22:11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: This is how the judgement day will be. The redeemed of the Lord will have a covering, the lost will stand with their sin exposed. Do you have a covering for your sin? Then look what was done to that man: verse 13 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Do you have a covering for your sin? 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. The Lord has called all. How many has he chosen? Has he chosen you? Come to him and find out. Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. You must believe, but not of yourself. It is a gift of God. You must repent, but not of yourself. This also is a gift of God. You must come to him, but not of yourself. The Father must draw you. You are not able to "make a decision for Christ". by nature you hate God. You are not able to "Give your heart to Jesus". He doesn't want your old wicked heart. Mat. 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
