Subject: The decieved heart


It is common talk by most religious organizations to say "If you are not a member here then you are lost."
or
"If you belong to THAT church then you are goiing to hell."

While most of these churches are deceived and are going to hell.
The thing I want to point out is, this has been going on for a long time.
This even goes back to the day of Noah there building the ark.
He preached to the people and non believed him.
They would not have what he was preaching.

But look at:
John 7:45
7:45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees;
     and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? 
7:46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. 
7:47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

It was the Pharisees who were decieved.
The pharisees had seen his miracles an could only think evil against him.
Their pride was wounded when they saw his miracles.
They became angry.
Thy became angry because the truth pricked their heart.
It meant that they were sinners and they worked very hard to keep themselves from being a sinner.

If you become angry when you hear what I say, it is most likely that the truth has found something rotten in your life.

Satan has been deceiving man since the fall of Adam.
The eyes and understanding of every man are blind until they are opened by the Holy Spirit.

John 7:5 
 For neither did his brethren believe in him. 

The earthly brothers of the Lord did not beleive that he was God.
They grew up with him, they knew that he had never sinned, they knew that he was different.
Yet, they would not believe.
With such evidence.
And you won't believe either.

The 8th chapter of John tells about our Lord trying to convince the pharisees that they were wicked and that he was God.
The pharisees wouldn't have it. 
They got really mad and would have killed Jesus if it had been permitted them.

The Gospel was preached to them but they would not believe it.
When the gospel is preached, it must be believed.
You must believe what it says about you.

Hebrews 
4:2  For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: 
     but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed 
     with faith in them that heard it. 

There in that 8th chapter of John when the Lord was preaching to the pharisees, we can see the very word of God going out to these people. 
I believe it was going out with power, the very power of God.
Yet Look what happened. None would believe it.
It only made them angry, so angry that they tried to kill the Lord.

John 8:43 
 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 

They did not have that hearing ear that only the Lord God of heaven can give.

Proverbs 20:12 
 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them. 



Jeremiah 17:9 
 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 




Jeremiah 17:10 
 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. 





Jeremiah 17:14 
 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.
