Glen Bond Sunday Night Nov. 5, 2006 Picayune, MS Subject: The Lost sinner coming to Christ Bro Freddy said today, that many are content to be under the gospel, and yet be un-saved. Are you content to be under the gospel, and yet un-saved. have you seen yourself as a sinner? pastor said "... it might not be pleasant, i'm sure it won't be." You are not saved because you won't seek the Lord, Luke 15:11-32 Look how the Lord is able to get your attention. vs. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. If the Lord leaves us alone, or permits us, we will soon destroy our lives and be in want. But look what the Lord tells us: Psalm 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. The lost sinner doesn't see himself in trouble, but he is. This prodigal son was in trouble when he left his fathers house, but he didn't know it. The bible tells us that we are born unto trouble. this is the same as saying "man is born for the purpose of having trouble or calamity." The prodigal son came to himself. Luke 15:17 This is where every sinner wakes up. You have nothing. your whole life is a filthy hog pen. He came to his senses and saw that he had nothing, and that yet all things could be his through his father. He came to himself... He came to see that his righteousness would never get him into heaven. He came to see that he was spiritually bankrupt. He came to see that his father could save him from all his distress. You heavenly father is able to deliver you. psalm 107:11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: This is what every lost sinner is doing. 12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help. This is the great mercy of a soveriegn God getting thier attention. 13 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is where he leaves us: Heb. 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; Here is a quote from Bro. Shelton: God offers eternal life to the repentant, believing sinner, and not to an improved old life. The individual must, under the convictiong power of the Holy Spirit, regardless of who he is, come to recognize and acknowledge himself before God as a guilty, condemned, lost, Hell-deserving sinner, or go to Hell. Every sinner must come to Christ as a guilty sinner; he must forsake all in his heart; he must leave nothing covered, defend nothing, excuse nothing. He must take his place as a lost sinner, condemned to die, and that justly. He must admit that he is wrong and come to see that Christ died for such a wretch as he, and he must throw himself completely upon the mercy of God in Christ with one plea, "Christ died, and He died for me."
