Glen Bond Oct. 15, 2006 Picayune, MS Subject: Revealed unto Babes Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. The Lord was talking about faith, saving faith, or we might think of it as salvation. Salvation is hidden from the wise and prudent, and revealed to babes. I was reading Baca's Vale (October 7) and Bro. Philpot was telling about the salvation of the Lord being hidden from the wise, and revealed to babes. (READ PASSAGE FROM BACA'S VALE) The Lord gives salvation to whom He pleases. And to whom soever he will, he hides it. The wise man thinks he knows all about salvation, yet he is lost. A man who thinks he knows something cannot be taught it. I worked with a man who thought he knew all about how to build a house. He would'nt listen to me when I would try to tell him something. He thinks to himself, I already know what he is telling me. I don't need to listen. Then he would go about his business and do it wrong. He had to be proven wrong many times before he would begin to accept the fact that he didn't know everything. A lost sinner is the same way.(even saved sinners) We think that we know. We believe it so strongly that we will not even CONSIDER to look at what is being told to us. Bro Mel said wed. night that EVERY message is for you, and me. And it is. But we won't listen, we think that we already know. Prov. 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: We think ourselves to be saved. but many of us are only saved in our own sight. Our self righteousness keeps us from seeing what the Lord has revealed to babes. I see people,... talk to people, ...hear about people, who say that they are saved. I hope that they are saved. But I can't know, and it is not my business to know. That is the Lords business. My business it to preach the gospel. Preach the good news that Christ died for sinners. Tell you how the Lord saves sinners. Tell you what the bible says. And the bible says to make your calling and election sure. And that is what I want to do here tonight. Bro. Philpot has laid it all out for us. We only need to look at and consider what he says. and let us look at it in the light of Gods word. This is God speaking to Job: Job 38:36 Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart? God is asking a question that can only have one answer. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: Now lets look at what bro. Philpot said. ...if a man has not the life of God in his soul, then he has no Godly fear, and no reverence for God. I am putting this in simple terms, because I am a simple person, and I can not understand the big words. Our Pastor, on the trail blazer broadcast last Wed. was talking about people who call our Lord 'Jesus'. These are the people described here by bro. Philpot. They have no Godly fear and no reverence for God because they don't have the life of God in the soul. When a person is saved, he will come to know Christ as LORD, and not simply - Jesus. This is a sign of disrespect. My children don't call me Glen, they call me Daddy. It is a sign of respect and reverence. The Lord is not going to hold them guiltless that show him such disrespect. These people have no Godly fear and no reverence for God because they don't have the life of God in the soul. I ask you, do you have the life of God in your soul? John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. When a sinner is saved, the Spirit of God is born in him. Lets look at some more of what Philpot said: ....he has never seen his sins in the light of God's countenance and has never trembled at "the wrath to come"... Before the Lord ever saves a sinner, the sinner will come to see himself, and his sin in the light of God. Now Gods word tells us that a sinner is blinded by the God of this world, and cannot know the things of God because they are spiritually discerned. Therefore, a sinner can not see or know his sins in the light of God. What is a sinner to do then? We must look to him. John 16:8 And when he (the Comforter, or Holy spirit) is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: This tells us that only the Holy Spirit of God will convince sinners of their sin. Every lost sinner is blind and not able to see his sin, therefore only the Holy Spirit can make you to see your sin. Now a sinner is quite able to know that he has broken the law of God and man. He is quite able to know that he is a sinner, simply because the bible tells us so plainly. But until the Holy Spirit comes and works His work in the heart, no person will ever come to see what a sinner he is. You will never come to "tremble" at "the wrath to come". When the Lord opened my eyes, I began to tremble at what I had done. Have you ever come to see yourself in the light of God? Have you ever come to "tremble" at "the wrath to come"? Look what Philpot said about such an un-enlightened person: All his knowledge, all his wisdom, and all his prudence leave him just where they found him, unimpressed, carnal, sensual, worldly, "dead in trespasses and sins".All his wisdom never reached beyond the surface; It never broke up the crust of unbelief, so as to enter through that seared crust into the conscience, and produce living effects in it, as made by the touch of God's finger. Salvation is of the Lord and unless the Lord calls you, opens your understanding to see your sin, gives you repentance, and gives you faith to believe you will never be saved. Let me say that again: Salvation is of the Lord. He does it all. Let me ask you, sinner, Where does that leave you? Does that leave you saved? - I want you to think. Back to Philpot: God hides the workings of spiritual fear from those that are "wise and prudent" He does not condescend to manifest himself to them; He does not show them light in his light; he does not reveal himself to their consciences; he does not come with power into their hearts; he does not take the veil of unbelief and blindness from their carnal minds, and show them himself; The Holy Spirit must make known to the sinner that the Lord he is God. Jeremiah 24:7 And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: The Lord, and him alone, must give you that heart to know him. You can study Gods word until you know it frontwards backwards and sideways. You can be the most intelligent person on the face of the earth, but if God never makes you to know himself, then you will die in your sin and go into an eternal hell. Has the Lord made himself known to you? Have he made you to say, as he made Thomas to say, "MY Lord and My God"? Is it personal to you? Has the Lord hidden these things from you, or has he revealed them to you as a babe. While you are wise in your own worldy knowledge you will never know Christ. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: It is our own un-belief that keeps us from knowing the fear of the Lord. We don't believe that God will destroy the wicked in Hell. We don't believe that God will save those that come to him. Unbelief keeps our eyes blinded to the true wisdom of God. 2 timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. The Bible is able to make you wise unto salvation. Or you might say, the bible has the wisdom of salvation in it. It can make you to know salvation. Psalms 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. When you get honest with the Lord, he will make you to know the wisdom of salvation.
