Glen Bond 7-9-05 7-27-09 Picayune MS Subject: All things continue as they were. 2 Peter 3:3 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. Deuteronemy 4:28 28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. 29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. 30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; 31 (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them. Ye shall serve gods: these are the work of your own hands. You have made these gods yourself. you spend Gods time worshiping the gods of your own making. All of the time that you spend on something else (you un-saved) is time that should be spent worshiping (seeking) the true God. I remember before I was saved... I wanted to worship my gods. I got pleasure from worshiping them. It is what I enjoyed doing. But this is that old stubborn will of man. I want what I want. I want what I want, and I don't care about God! That is the natural will of man. the natural heart, exposing itself. Have you ever come to see this about your self?? There came a time in my life where I knew that I was serving idols. I came to know this without a doubt. I knew that I was serving idols and I knew that I was turning away from God. I knew that if I continued on, that I would never see heaven, but only hell. What I didn't know at the time was, that a sovereign God had made me to know these things. Look at verse 29: 29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Here we have hope. If from thence... thou shalt seek the Lord. Where is 'thence'? He is talking about from being scattered abroad in the world. He is not talking about while you are still worshiping your idols. Before you can seek the Lord, you must turn from your idols. You must renounce them, and see them for what they truly are. They are only something to consume your time and keep you from seeking the Lord. They only keep you from calling on the name of the Lord. 'if from thence...' This means 'from where ever you are'. Where ever you are, when you turn your eyes from your idols and look to the Lord God. When you begin to seek the Lord, you have turned away from you idols. Let me ask you, Have you turned away from your idols? You who want to be saved, Have you turned from your idols? Have you stopped chasing after the world? have you stopped doing all of the things that YOU want to do. Have you stopped doing all of those things that consume the time that you should be spending on seeking the Lord??? Have you come to see that YOUR WILL is contrary to Gods will. Oh sinner, if you will never stop what you are doing for just a moment, you will never see what you are doing. Are you always busy doing something? Do you spend all of your time working and then come home and sit and watch TV? and then never give any time to seeking the Lord?? Look at verse 29 again Deuteronemy 4:29: 29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. I you seek the Lord, you will find him. You must seek him. You MUST! You must devote some time to seeking Christ, the author and finisher of your faith. This verse says 'if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.' This means, more, to seek him with an undivided heart. Don't seek him when it is convienent for you, and then run back to your idols for a little while. No! you must completely turn from your idols, and turn to Christ. What is your life worth to you today? What will it be if you die right now? What will become of all of those things that you call important? When you are dead, what will they be to some one else? All of the things that you spent your time on, who will spend time on them when you are gone? James 2:19 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
