Glen Bond July 3, 2005 7-3-05 Hattiesburg MS Subject: The teaching of the Holy Spirit. Salvation is of the Lord. Jonah 2:9 Since it is of the Lord, It is taught of the Lord. John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. And again in Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 2 Timothy 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; What will God teach them? What will God teach his children? He will teach them salvation. This is the only thing there is to learn. In learning salvation, we learn all about God. We learn about God, what he is, and we learn about ourself and what we are. Now, I am only TELLING you these things, All I can do is TELL you these things. God has to TEACH them to you! I can not teach them to you. This is the work of the Holy Spirit. We learn that we are sinful. We learn that Christ died to save sinners. We learn that sin must be paid for. We learn that Christ has paid the debt. We learn that God is sovereign. We learn that God doesn't have to save us. We learn that God is a God of mercy. We learn to beg for that mercy. ----------------------------------------------- We learn that we are sinful. We learn that Christ died to save sinners. This is one of the greatest works and wonders of God. To cause a lost, blinded, self righteous sinner, to see what he is. We learn that sin must be paid for. We learn that Christ has paid the debt. We can't have our sin paid for if we have no sin. Thats why the holy spirit must show us what we are in the sight of God. When we see what a sinner we are, then, and only then, we are willing to come to him for salvation. Why would someone who has no sin, come to him? What can Christ do for the righteous person? Nothing! He said that he didn't come to call the righteous.
